An 8th-generation Native Washingtonian and social entrepreneur, Aiyi’nah (eye-yawn-ah) D. Ford, is honored to serve as Plus USA Ms. 2024. Her platform, “transforming childhood trauma into triumph” is more than words. It is the most significant source of her empowerment. In 2012, Aiyi’nah founded the only trauma-informed youth center in Ward 8, The Future Foundation. For her service, she was awarded the “2018 Woman of Achievement Award” by the Women’s Information Network and “2019 Leader of the Year” by the Young Education Professionals. Her talent is translating trauma with grace. Under the moniker SimplyNay, she has become an award-winning dramaturge. Her stage play, “The Belle and the Bulldagger” received the “ Best Drama Award” at the 2019 D.C. Black Theatre and Arts Festival. Her publications are too many to list and loved to limit. Whenever she entertains, she speaks about the lived experiences of seeking equality. SimplyNay is a digital media maven. For years, she hosted “The One Mic Stand with SimplyNay.” In 2014, she expanded into STAND Omnimedia, a diversified digital media platform. This year, it evolved into HIPpington Post, where digital media’s impact is intentional.
